• My Residency @ Museum of Motherhood, St. Petersburg, FL

After finding out about the residency from fellow Mother Artist and Feminist Artist Christen Clifford, I was fortunate to have been accepted to the M.O.M. Art Annex Residency Program, and therefore traveled to St. Petersburg, Florida for a one week artist's residency at the end of March 2018. The program is open to students, artists, and scholars engaged in the study of women, mothers, fathers, and families. This live/work space is in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg in the historic Kenwood district.

While there, I had a very productive and inspiring week: drawing, painting, collaging, doing photography and making mixed media work. I also had the opportunity to visit both the Salvador Dali Museum and the Imagine Museum. I often say that palm trees and fronds are my version of Monet's water lilies, and I often incorporated those botanical motifs with my work depicting elements of the female form. The week was incredible, and I will be forever thankful to Martha Joy Rose, the founder and director of the Museum of Motherhood, for being a mentor and a champion of my work.
